The interior design of each area of the house must complement the function or purpose of such area. For example, dining areas must be decorated in way that is conducive to eating, and bedrooms to sleeping.
As for kitchens, it is generally where food preparation and cooking are done. However, as you go about preparing your meals, you may be tempted to eat a little of your ingredients. If you are someone who cannot resist popping nuts and raisins into your mouth just as you are making brownies, you just might end up consuming a large amount of these food items than you should.
If you are in a weight management programme, you may want to set up your kitchen that will help suppress your appetite to discourage you from eating too many or too much while being there. Consider an overall colour for your kitchen, then. Indigo, blue or violet are ideal since they generally help suppress appetite. Splash a little green on your walls or counters to promote relaxation. Colours to avoid are red and yellow as they basically stimulate eating, so reserve these shades for your dining areas or better yet, do not use them at all.
Employ white fluorescent bulb for the lighting in your kitchen. A general rule is that this area must be well-illuminated, so that you will be able to see what you are eating or cooking, helping you to remain conscious of your weight. Leave the yellow lighting for the dining areas.
Accent your kitchen walls with decorative mirrors and cork boards so that you can stay focused on your weight management programme. Mirrors help you see your own image while cork boards help you stick on some dietary recipes or weekly menus.
