Even though LCD's cost a little more than CRT's (a 19-inch LCD might cost $250-$300, an 19-inch CRT monitor $150 to $200), there are factors which can minimize the price difference.

For example, a 19-inch LCD monitor can offer as much performance as a 21-inch CRT, and both might cost $250. Before buying an LCD monitor, it might be good to consider what features you need and what the monitor would be used for. Monitors that are used for work should have a large image area, so more information can be displayed, should be adjustable, and should have a high brightness rating. Some LCD's that are good for work have a pivot feature, and LCD monitors that have a high resolution are good for work. If you want an LCD monitor for gaming, you should get one with a large and bright screen. It should have image clarity and color accuracy. The response time should be at least 12ms.
